“We want to provide high quality body cameras at an affordable price so all law enforcement departments can utilize them. Police body cameras need to be used because they benefit the police officers as well as the citizens in the community. The use of body cameras gives the community transparency and in return, the community will have more trust toward police officers,” said WOLFCOM CEO Tiffany Wang.
Deputy Steven Gray says it was an easy decision for the department, “We had a grant and it seemed like a good idea at the time with all that was going on in the news,” said Gray. The department was all in favor of the purchase of the cameras and did extensive comparison and research online. “Our officers like the ease of use, HD quality and rotatable camera lens of the WOLFCOM VISION cameras,” said Gray.
Even though the department just received their body cameras, Gray says the offers like using them. “Some other officers from other departments have seen our videos and said that the quality was real good.”
Gray says the department has not had any major incidents yet where the cameras have documented a major case, but he sees where having video would be helpful. “It’s basically a witness. Once you have video that should cover everything… people’s stories can change, but the video doesn’t,” said Gray.
